Health, Social Care and Education

content

Health, Social Care and Education touches everyone’s lives and a career in one of these areas can be very rewarding.  Whether you are starting on the process of gaining qualifications, or you have worked in the sector for many years, we have a course to help develop your skills and career opportunities.

At Orkney College UHI we offer a wide range of full, part-time and short-courses and a broad choice of qualifications to suit most needs. Tutors are vocationally qualified and experienced and have valuable knowledge to share with students. We work closely with employers to ensure that our programmes meet their needs. Many courses are recognised as qualifications in the workplace and meet Scottish Social Services Council Registration Requirements.

The Department provides courses from basic level through to degree in almost all disciplines.  Our courses range from Introduction to Care, through National Certificates (NC’s), Higher National Certificates (HNC’s), Professional Development Awards (PDA’s) and Degrees. Many of our courses combine study in college alongside practical placements with local employers and these courses will prepare you for work in the sector or for higher education courses in your chosen career path.

We hope you decide to study in the Health, Social Care and Education department and will be pleased to hear from you and answer any queries.
