Elementary First Aid (STCW)

This course is for anyone intending to go to sea so that they possess a basic knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency aboard ship.
Course content
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the types of accidents or emergencies which may occur.
- State how they would go about raising the alarm.
- Identify the probable cause, nature and extent of injuries of a casualty.
- Demonstrate the correct priority and sequence of actions to preserve the life of a casualty and of the first aider.
Assessment will be through demonstration and a multiple choice question paper.
