Open days

Our next Open Day will take place on Friday 30 November from 1pm until 5pm! This is a great opportunity to speak to staff about courses across various subject areas and you can also find out about research being undertaken here at Orkney College UHI.

Come along and speak to:

Agriculture
Test your expertise with our 'Guess the breed' and Guess the weight' games in the Overblikk Restaurant! Staff will also be on hand to offer course information.

Archaeology Institute UHI
Visit the laboratories used by our archaeologists and look and 2000 year-old pollen grains and other finds from the Cairns and Ness of Brodgar digs.

Art & Design
Free workshops on offer in our Art and Design department and you'll also have a a chance to meet staff and students and discuss courses. You can also chat to staff at their stand in the Overblikk Restaurant.

Business and Administration
Test your business and administration skills in our mock office! Staff will also be on hand to discuss courses information.

Computer Science
Come and view examples of the work being undertaken by cyber security and games design students. You can also visit the computing department and chat to staff about available courses.

Construction
Students will showcase examples of their recent projects in the main college building. You'll also be able to chat to staff about available courses.

Health, Social Care, Childcare and Hairdressing
Students will have a stand in the main college foyer promoting all of the courses in this department. You can also visit the Care department and speak to staff about the courses on offer.

Highlands & Islands Students' Association (HISA)
Come and chat to local HISA representatives and find out how you can get involved with them during your time studying with us at Orkney College UHI and the services they offer to all students.

Hospitality
Try your hand at making crepes and pancakes in the Overblikk Restaurant. Staff will also be on hand to offer course information.

Sport and Leisure
Find out about sport and leisure apprenticeships available in Orkney.

Maritime Studies & Engineering
Pop along to the stand in the Overblikk restaurant to find out about maritime studies and engineering courses available here at the college.

There will also be information stands from:

  • Institute for Northern Studies
  • HNC, HND, degree and postgraduate courses offered across multiple University of the Highlands campuses including Orkney College UHI
  • Senior phase options for school pupils

Visitors are also welcome throughout the year. If you would discuss options regarding a specific subject area or course that’s not covered above please call us in advance so that we can ensure a member of staff is available to meet you.
