Senior Phase Learning at UHI Orkney

More choice. More experience. More possibilities for your future.

UHI Orkney works in close partnership with local secondary schools — including Kirkwall Grammar School, Stromness Academy, and Sanday, Stronsay and Westray Junior High Schools — to offer senior phase pupils a wider choice of vocational and academic learning opportunities.

These courses are designed to complement the school curriculum while giving students a real insight into college life, further and higher education, and future career pathways. In some cases, learning may also take place in the workplace, allowing students to combine part of their week at school with time at UHI Orkney and hands-on industry experience.

Our aim is simple: to help young people gain the skills, confidence and real-world understanding they need to make informed and ambitious choices about their next steps. Whether you’re interested in developing skills for work, exploring an apprenticeship, or progressing to university-level study, UHI Orkney offers opportunities to suit a wide range of interests and ambitions.
