From UHI Orkney to Software Development: Celebrating Sam Hay’s Journey

At UHI Orkney we’re proud to see our students take the skills they’ve built here and turn them into exciting careers. One recent graduate doing just that is Sam Hay, who has joined Kyloe Partners as an Associate Software Developer.

Sam completed his HND in Computing with us before going on to graduate as Student of the Year at our 2024 ceremony — recognition of his commitment, talent and potential. Since then, he’s stepped into a role with Kyloe where he is already making an impact, applying the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills developed during his studies.

Stories like Sam’s show how a course at UHI Orkney can be a springboard to opportunities both locally and further afield. They also highlight the strength of collaboration with employers here in Orkney, giving our students a clear pathway from classroom to career.
