What is special about this course?
This new qualification does not replace the current social services qualifications.
Who is it for?
It is suitable for:
- support workers, practitioners and supervisors who require a qualification at SCQF Level 7 to meet SSSC registration requirements
- healthcare and support workers
- a multi-skilled workforce
- workers in remote and rural settings who work with individuals of all ages
Entry requirements
- Minimum age 18 years
- SVQ 2 (SCQF Level 6) or equivalent qualification
- An appropriate job role that meets the requirements for evidencing practice at SVQ 3 (SCQF Level 7)
- A minimum of 120 hours relevant care experience
This SVQ covers the integrated value of health and social care, in areas such as:
- Promote health, safety and security in the work setting
- Promote effective communication
- Developing your practice through reflection and learning
- Promote the safeguarding of individuals
This SVQ in Integrated Health and Social Care at SCQF Level 7 consists of four mandatory units and four optional units that are occupationally relevant:

How long will my course last?
1 YearThe integrated SVQ is designed for the adult social care and children, and young people workforce across integrated health and social care. This qualification aims to support flexible and adaptable forms of care, strengthen career pathways and expand the range of qualifications across traditional boundaries in health and social care services and settings.

What can I do on completion of my course?
Learners will gain an internationally recognised qualification that guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully. Employers will also benefit from their employees being proficient.
Assessment is carried out in a variety of ways focusing on the workplace and current practice of the candidate. This maximises opportunities for work based, relevant development and learning benefitting both candidate and employer.
