Laura Gray and Sean McFedries have just completed their SVQ Level 1 in Hospitality Services.

Our SVQ involved them setting up the Overblikk Restaurant for counter and table service, setting up, washing dishes, cooking and serving food in the T CoZY Café as well as working as a team. We enjoyed every part of the course and assessments were done practically and orally. They both have positive outcomes which they are really pleased about.

Both of them are going through the process of becoming permanent volunteers at NHS Orkney. In that role we will be helping to serve teas and coffees to patients, washing dishes and cleaning. They really enjoy that and would like to thank NHS Orkney for providing a placement.

Sean also works at the Reel setting up chairs and tables and Laura has applied to do the Level 2 SVQ in Hospitality Services.

Anne Hill, Curriculum Leader said:

"This course was set up as a result of discussions with employers, St Colms and Stuart Pretswell  of Supported Employment OIC. I am delighted with the positive outcomes for all students, the success of partnership working and would like to thank all partners for their input and support. Well done Laura and Sean."
