What is special about this course?
This course normally provides a progression route from the SCQF5 Diploma but can be studied as a stand alone course. Students also enrol onto the Scottish Modern Apprenticeship and benefit from obtaining three nationally recognised certificates or enhancements as part of the two year course.
Successful students will gain a Diploma in Agriculture - Livestock at SCQF6 and a Modern Apprenticeship (MA) certificate after year 1.
For the apprenticeship the applicant must have three days or more employment on a farm with a named employer/supervisor. All applicants should be fit and healthy.
All applicants will be interviewed to ascertain suitability for the course.
Applicants should have Core Skills at Intermediate 2 or National 5 level.

Equipment
The student would be expected to provide a pair of water proof boots, a pair of work boots with steel toe caps, waterproof clothing, working clothes and gloves.
What can I do on completion of my course?
The Diploma in Agriculture: Livestock at SCQF level 6 facilitates career progression in the sector. Employment opportunities are numerous as the qualification is designed to allow learners to develop a range of skills required to succeed within the sector. This Diploma also provides the opportunity to progress into the HNC in Agriculture or related areas.
