Our Short Course Programme draws on the skills and experience of lecturers as well as the vocational expertise of a pool of trainers to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the local business community.

Orkney College UHI Short Courses January 2023

We aim to cover current legislative requirements including Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, First Aid, and Vehicle & Plant Operations through a range of certificated courses accredited by the relevant awarding body.

Where possible courses will enable progression from Elementary to Intermediate to Advanced levels and any pre-registration requirements will be identified on the course information sheet. Courses which are certificated by an awarding body will follow a set syllabus and examination or assessment.

Additional courses can be added to the programme at any time if demand is sufficient. Courses can be provided in house and course content can be customised to meet the needs of your organisation.

Fees/Funding

Course fees are stated in the programme and discounts are available for bulk bookings of five or more. Some courses attract Individual Training Account Funding and these are identified by the ITA logo.

Anyone who is earning less than £22,000 per annum and is learning a new skill which their employer is not obliged to pay for, can apply for an ITA. This may be of particular interest to part time staff. For those who are eligible, an application pack can be obtained by ringing 0808 100 1090 or visiting the ITA website.
