Short Courses

Welcome to UHI Orkney short courses

Our Short Course Programme draws on the vocational expertise of a pool of instructors to meet the training needs of the local business community. We are also currently developing a range of programmes that offer skills for leisure pursuits.

Most courses can be completed in a single day and many of them are offered on a rolling programme throughout the year. Contact staff in the Short Course Section at ocshortcourses@uhi.ac.uk or telephone 01856 569 203 / 01856 569 206 at UHI Orkney to enquire about course dates and availability.

We aim to cover current legislative requirements including Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, First Aid, and Vehicle & Plant Operations through a range of certificated courses accredited by the relevant awarding body.

Our courses are predominantly delivered face-to-face at the UHI Orkney campus in Kirkwall and are designed to allow progression from Introduction to Advanced levels. Any pre-registration requirements will be clearly stated on the course webpage and information sheet. Courses that are certified by an awarding body will adhere to a specific syllabus and include an examination or assessment. Additional courses may be added to the programme at any time, provided there is sufficient demand.

We can also offer in-house courses, with the option to customise the content to meet your organisation's specific needs.
